There are two well-appointed bathrooms: an en-suite with a power shower in the main bedroom and a family bathroom with a bath and shower located off the upstairs hallway.
There is another bathroom downstairs with a shower.
The whole house benefits from underfloor heating.
At the heart of the home is a large open-plan kitchen and living area that blends traditional features with contemporary style. Exposed wooden beams and natural materials create a warm, inviting atmosphere throughout.
The kitchen includes a handmade island and dining area, making it a social hub for family meals or casual gatherings. There is an oil AGA (please note this is turned off in summer months), which is perfect for cooking. Guests have a choice to use electric hob, electric oven and a microwave if they wish to cook.
A snug sofa area with TV connects the space, creating a seamless flow between cooking, dining, and relaxing.
The separate living room is bathed in natural light and opens out to the garden through a set of French doors. A wood-burning stove adds to the cosy, countryside feel – perfect for relaxing evenings.
Step outside to enjoy securely fenced gardens to the front and rear, complete with lawn and patio areas ideal for summer lounging or outdoor dining. A shared games room adds extra entertainment for all ages. The games room is a separate building and it is shared with our sister property Sharpnage House. Each property has its own access to it from their garden. The games room is very well equipped with pool table, table tennis, football table and toys for little ones.
We allow a well behaved dog to stay (max2) at a small fee. With the fully fenced garden, you can relax while your furry friend runs around. There is an electric gate and a private drive with plenty of private parking space.
There are many public footpaths with beautiful scenery all around. Not far is The “Checkley viewing point” which is a local name for a viewing point located at Swardon Quarry picnic site and offers beautiful views over the river Wye, river Lugg, and Frome valleys. It is a popular spot for sunsets and views of the Malvern Hills and as far as Hay Bluff.Â
Hereford is just a 15-minute drive away, and the M50 is easily accessible in 20 minutes – making Little Canwood House both secluded and convenient.
There are two local pubs that are 1.1 and 1.3 miles away.
I and a group of friends varying beteeen 3-5 in number, have been renting Little Canwood House, for a week in March (Cheltenham racing), every year for the last 17 years! That alone probably tells you what we think of it.
It is perfect for what we need, both in facilities and location. Everything one could need and a beautiful setting too.
As noted in several other reviews, Andrea is a joy to deal with, extremely friendly, professional and nothing is too much trouble for her.
I would highly recommend it. Steve Jones.
3rd time at little Canwood, never disappointed, just returned from 7 nights between 6th June till 13th. As always very nicely presented, just as discribed, high quality bedding, towels etc. Love using the AGA cooker, in fact never used the conventional oven or electric hob. Though we had a bit of mixed weather, did not spoil our visit. We have stayed in lots of so called 5 star holiday homes, but non have attained this standard, in fact many where very shabby. Dealing with Andrea the hospitality manger is very simply and professional. Would highly recommend little Canwood.
Sandra and family.
Lovely house, gardens and play room. Fantastic place for a relaxing family holiday. Enough to do to keep busy even if the weather is bad. Thankfully had beautiful sunny weather 😎
What a really lovely place to stay! The house is stylish, very clean and comfortable. Its well equipped, the games room was a bonus and a highlight has to be the beautiful, peaceful garden, great views, our dog adored it! Excellent location for walking the Malvern Hills and walks to local villages. Very much appreciated all the help from Andrea who we booked through and took time to ensure everything was ok during our holiday. Thank you.
If you're looking for a chill break this is perfect. In a quiet secluded countryside spot, yet the house itself is full of all the 'mod cons' you could want. Extremely high quality. And for a family break, the games room was a fantastic addition, all ages enjoyed real human interaction and fun!
